Acute sinusitis causing extreme pain on right side of head and neck after nose clears?!?
I went to the doctor yesterday, for a sore throat, mild coughing and all the signs of a cold. They took a blood sample and swabbed for strep. The strep came back negative, but they found elevated neutrophils in my blood. So I have been on amoxicillin for about a day and a half. The funny thing about this is he diagnosed me with acute sinusitis. Well after I got back from the doc yesterday, I bent over and my head throbbed so bad from just changing positions. So I took the good kind of sudaffed and motrin and took a nap. When I woke up the pain was gone, but of course after awhile it started to creep back again, this time involving only the right side of my head and my neck. My whole side of that face hurts and I am sure it it from the sinus pressure. What's really got me now is that in my right nostril this morning, i can hear/feel it pop, like when you clear your ears or try to open it up and then i get this INTENSE pain that throbs from the top of my head all the way to the back of my neck. It has been happening all afternoon, and it even woke me up from another nap, but now, its popping 3 times consecutively and I know the pain is coming. What could this be from?? Any ideas???
What works for a bad tension headache? I have tried Excederin Migraine/GoodyPowders/Motrin-nothing is working?Also I take tylenol and motrin or aleve with the pain pills because even when I take them I still hurt? I have been referred to a Rhematologist by my Orthopedic Doctor. The ortho has me on Lorcet Plus 10mg and Neurontin 900 mg. Will the Rhematologist be able to do anything or offer any kind of treatment for pain relief other than meds?
